The Compagna Foundation in Basle owns the Hotel Steinenschanze. All profits generated through the hotel operation are used to finance the social services provided by this non-profit association.

COMPAGNA, a charitable society founded in 1886, helps people in Basle who find themselves in difficult life situations. Over the years, COMPAGNA has provided a variety of services and adapted them continuously to meet changing needs.
 

• SOS Railway Station Assistance in Basle’s Main Train Station                               
  For more than 120 years, this service has assisted travellers of all ages, especially the elderly and disabled people, youth and children. 
   
• The Counselling Agency for Bi-national and Intercultural Couples and Families..
  For more than 30 years, the professional advisors of this agency have provided advice on cultural, interpersonal and legal issues facing bi-national and intercultural couples and families.

 

• ALIENA
  A counselling agency for women in the sex business. Set up four years ago, ALIENA counsels and assists these women, many of them migrants, in the difficult situations confronting them in their daily lives, particularly in regard to health and legal matters.
